We love playing outdoors and what is more fun than skating or scooting! With our new competition with Micro Scooters, we have put together our favourite scooter games for the Summer.

Before we share our top scooter games for the Summer, here are a few reasons why exercise outside is so beneficial to children:

1. Aerobic exercise - Scooting provides a good old workout that gets the heart pumping without them even realising! Plus, that’s got to help them fall asleep, right?!

2. Vitamin D - Playing outside helps increase their levels of vitamin D, which has many health benefits. Just make sure to put sunscreen on before playing out in the sun.

3. Lower stress levels - Not only is being in nature good for the soul, but we think a good scoot around can help them to let go of any stress or tension.

4. Exposure to natural light - This can help promote healthy sleep patterns due to the melatonin that is produced when exposed to natural sunlight.

5. Boosts mental health and long-term happiness - Exercise in general can release dopamine, which is a neurotransmitter linked to satisfaction and pleasure.

Scooter Pen Pals

Who doesn’t enjoy receiving an unexpected love note! One of our favourite scooter games which also acts as a sweet act of kindness.

Ask your little one to think of someone they would love to write to. Perhaps it’s a family member, friend from school, local community, or even a celebrity! Your little one can get creative by crafting a special little note for their pen pal, telling them something exciting they are up to over the Summer holidays. Or simply what they love most about this person.

Now for the fun bit! They can jump on their Micro Scooter to post it. For extra fun, why not take a scenic route? For the chance of a surprise letter in return, make sure to add your postal address too!

Scooter Shadow Pictures

Looking for scooter games for hot, sunny days? This scooter game is more about the artwork than the scooting so ideal when it is too hot to scoot.

Using their Micro Scooter, draw around the basic shape of its shadow onto the pavement with chalk. Then turn the shape into something more creative. What do you see? Is the handlebar the mast of a pirate ship, or perhaps the very long neck of a giraffe? Make sure to take a photo of your masterpiece and tag @microscooters on Instagram.

Micro Pirates

This might be one of our favourite scooter games, any excuse to get dressed up and into character! You will need two teams so best played with at least 4 children.

The premise is simple. Two teams and two pirate ships. You can use buckets unless you want to get creative!

Scoot in turn to capture all the treasure from the pirate ship and return to your team. We think a tag team would work best so once the first player returns, the next can go.

The team that is the fastest on their scooter wins. Mix up the teams and try again.

We think gold chocolate coins would work well as the treasure.

Library Scoot

Calling all bookworms, this is one of our favourite scooter games for you!

Have a much more fun trip to the library this Summer by scooting there. Libraries usually have lots going on over the Summer holidays so take a look at any workshops or activities before you plan your library scoot. 

Remember to take a backpack so your little one (or you) can carry their books back home. Our Dotty drawstring bag works well to carry one light book home.

Scoot Rounders

One of our more advanced scooter games but we think more fun than traditional rounders!

Whoever is batting can use a Micro Scooter to help them out on their circuit around the rounders bases. Simply take your turn batting and then when it’s time to run, hop onto your scooter and scoot to each base. We think this version of rounders would have made PE lessons at school much more fun!

Want something more advanced? You could create obstacle courses with cones so your little one can practice weaving through them. Get creative and make your obstacle course with different levels including ramps. Then, time them so they can see their progress, or compete with brothers and sisters.
