There’s nothing we love more at Dotty than fun fashion pieces for your little ones. Fashion that not only looks good, but is super comfy and easy to move around in. So when we discovered the mummy and me trend, we had to give it a go!

Our love affair with matching mummy and me outfits actually started with our collaboration with avant garde fashion brand, Alice + Olivia. Creating high fashion looks for mums and transforming them into tiny versions for our children, we were keen to create our very own Dotty mummy and me look.

According to The Independent, mummy and me dressing all began with the rise of celebrity mother and daughter matching ensembles. A selfie of Kim Kardashian wearing matching Easter pyjamas with all four of her children went viral, and the rest is history! Other celebrities to adopt the trend were Queen Bey donning the same dress as her little one, Blue Ivy, followed by a snapshot of Chrissy Teigen twinning with her daughter whilst on holiday. The trend took off and soon after high street retailers started to follow suit. 
 
However it wasn’t celebrities that first started this craze according to The Independent. Fashion designers including Gucci, Stella McCartney, and Lanvin, each created their unique fashion designs for children, which is what initially sparked the mummy and me trend.
 
If you head over to Instagram, this trend has taken on a whole new level with the hashtags #twinningiswinning and #matchingwithmommy gaining popularity.
 
Personally, we don’t think there’s anything cooler than being able to match your little one. One of the most common phrases we hear in the shop, is “I wish this came in my size!” And so after launching our range of comfy adult dungarees last autumn, we decided to continue the trend this season by creating matching outfits for mummy and me dressing.
